Tip of the month - February

“You are always looking for anything to justify the way you feel”
How is it that we can have a bad day or a good day?
How do we know, today will be a bad day or a good day?
How is it that we find all the evidence to justify the way we feel our day is going?
For a moment, imagine that all days are exactly the same and the only thing that makes them different is how we ourselves are responsible for the labelling of the day as a good one or a bad one and how we are continuously feeding the feeling through the everyday situations that we would probably not notice normally.
For example, you are driving somewhere, aware of being late. Have you noticed how all the slow drivers of the world have decided to take the same route at the same time as you? How is it that you get all the red lights? How is that there are more roadworks today than any other day?
So, what can we do?
You won’t be surprised to discover that we can simply control the idea of having a bad day by following these easy to apply and easy to remember 3 steps:
1. Recognise
How do you know you are having a bad day? What started it?
2. Choose
How destructive and painful is it going to be? How much better will it be when I stop feeling this way? How do I want to feel today? What would be the most useful self to be today?
3. Notice
How are there so many nice and good things around you? How fortunate you are to be able to choose the way you want to feel? How easily can you decide to be the most resourceful person you can be? How much are you benefiting from the day? How can you simply decide what is important and what’s not?
As you begin to practice being in control of the quality of your days, and continue applying this simple process over the next few days, weeks and months, you will notice the difference it makes to you everyday life and the positive impact it has on your daily activities.
Enjoy!
